World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Trailer

To compare with Guild Wars 2 and see which you prefer...

GuildWars 2 Teaser Trailer

As promised.

Guild Wars 2

I'm a gamer. Probably always will be. The good news is that my wife loves me enough to have accepted this part of me. (You're incredible, Jess!) And it's not as though I play all the time either. But when I do, I like to make sure it's quality gaming that I enjoy, which - when combined with my love of MMO's and fantasy - equals either World of Warcraft or Guild Wars.

Now I used to play WOW and I loved it. But the constant need and desire to keep on leveling up and the fact that every day I didn't play felt like a waste since I was paying a monthly subscription anyways... soon led me to quit.

And then there was Guild Wars. Beautiful graphics. No subscription. I was in my element. Until I upgraded my laptop and could no longer run Windows on it - which meant no more GW, since as far as I know, they don't make a Mac version of it. Which led me back to WOW, since I got to play something.

Now if you know anything about gaming in particular, you may know that there is this fierce rivalry between WOW and GW. Which is better? Which is worse? There are a near endless number of debates and diatribes on the matter all over the Net.

So which really is the better option? How to tell? Well, both WOW and GW have recently announced new expansions; WOW is getting Cataclysm and Guild Wars 2 is finally on the horizon. And after having watched both trailers, I have to say... GW2 is looking mighty fine indeed! Take a look yourself and see which you prefer. There're also some GW2 concept art screens which look mighty delicious (more on that soon).

Dare I say it: the mythical WOW-Slayer that everyone in the gaming industry has pondered about in hushed undertones the last couple years may just be around the corner...

Gone and Back Again...

Apologies for having not updated for an incredible 3 weeks!!! Just goes to show you how fast time can fly when work gets too hectic...

A combination of too little time at work and home, as well as computer problems has led me to not having posted anything in a while. Sorry...

But the good news is that things are now back on track, my laptop is working again, and so you should once again be getting the daily dose of SoulFire you all crave so much. (As a small aside: I can't believe that MacBook powercables only come with a 1 year guarantee... and that they are so poorly designed! You got some work cut out for you, Steve Jobs & Co.)

On with the goodness!

Andy Anderson

No, it's not Kate Hudson's character from "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days", instead, this Andy Anderson is a prominent editorial and commercial photographer par excellence.
Not only does his portfolio site host some of his more recent work, but on the splash page one also has the option to search some of his own personal stock photography, which - much like the rest of his work - will blow you away.
